I prefer to give chocolate as gifts. Chocolate is like catnip for women.

That depends on whether she is on a diet or not. If you are giving it to her personally, I'd go with chocolate, but both is good. You get extra brownie points for having flowers delivered to her work, though.

Reply:Gift for what? That matters hugely, flowers and chocolate being transient. I have problems with the artificial scents that some florists put on their flowers, but a single red rose on a second serious date is worth it. Especially if the guy is kind enough to not wear cologne.





A small box of high-quality truffles delivered with a sweet note is always good. Organic, dark chocolate preferred. ;-)





But what's really special is something that reflects who I am and what matters most to me. Aside from friendship, music is a big part of that. Two tickets to a concert and someone to go with would be the best gift I could get.

Reply:Chocolate is a waste of time for weight-conscious women. Flowers are okay, as long as they're not the grocery store special. If you want to really get on a woman's good side, be more personal and original than either one.

Reply:Both are like putting band-aids on a major wound...women like jewelry. Perfume, not cologne, is a good choice, but not anything cheap.

Reply:I don't consider chocolate or flowers a gift. Technically they are gifts, but they seem kind of like "side dish" gifts...like you would give a woman a gift AND flowers or a gift AND chocolate.





Kind of like if you get a steak at a restaurant you can get some sauteed onions for on top...but getting a plate of onions on their own isn't much of a meal.





So call me selfish or whatever but chocolate or flowers seems like a stock, copout gift that you would give someone if you don't know them well....unless you know for sure that they absolutely adore a certain variety of either.
Reply:Chocolate for sure. I'm a female, but every time I receive flowers I smell them.. look at them for a minute and forget about them. I actually tell my boyfriend that they are a waste of $ and I don't want anymore.

spumante and choclate are a great duet. OH don't forget candles... and make her a dinner. you'll be so in the seat with her for a long time.
