What are some unique ideas for a wedding reception?

I am getting married in June, the service is outside with a gazebo, pond w/ a fountain, ect, then the reception is inside (it is at a country club). I am looking for some interesting ideas for decorations, gifts, flower girls and ring bearers (we are having 2 of each b/c they are just too cute). We want to do things differently, not the same traditional wedding you always go to...

What are some unique ideas for a wedding reception?
You have chosen the traditional time of year %26amp; place for June wedding, so too different would not fit. Choose small differences like your double flower girls %26amp; ring bearers. My daughter had 3 flower girls %26amp; 2 ring bearers, since they come in right before you they are sooo cute but needed to blend well or they will steal the show. She carried large bouqet of white tulips %26amp; bridesmaids carried balls of different colored roses - the tulips were outstanding. The centerpieces on tables were large candlebras with 10 votive candles. They never blew out %26amp; were different than usual flowers or glass bowls. Lots of people comment on how striking they were. We rented them at same place as tablecloths - we wanted color to match bridesmaids dresses %26amp; caterer did not have correct color. You may wanted to go to rental stores %26amp; see what they have different. She even gave trees to plant for gifts. It was unique %26amp; the price did not completely kill her Dad %26amp; I. LOL
Reply:When I lived in the Mediterranean we had this huuuuge garage under our villa, where we had at intervals "theme parties". I planned a "Halloween theme" at that time of year.... or a "Spring Awakening" theme, where people dressed up as something that related to the topic. I remember one couple came dressed up, the woman in a "S;pring Daffodil" kind of outfit, and her husband came as a "spring onion" which was pretty hilarious. We had a Neptune Theme one time, where the food was all about seafood and we had the area decorated with sand, seaweed, driftwood and that kind of thing.

We had so much fun with those and it makes me think along those lines for you to do. Think of a theme that you can associate either with that time of year... or summer in general.... or perhaps even about the "life cycle".... or something that symbolizes the stages of life, with all its ups and downs, and partnership and sharing that kind of thing. Even something that reflects the personality of the both of you, or something that sort of identifies you with those who know the two of you. Anything that would allow you to reflect your theme in the food, the wine, the decor, the bridesmaids' outfits and the music at the reception. Anyway, you get the general idea. Hope this might get your creative juice flowing LOL

Reply:I did things a bit differently. My groomsmen ushed in the grandparents and then stood at the front and waited on the bidesmaids. My flower girl and junior bridesmaid were seated so they werent a distraction. I offered guestes guest boutineers (well had someone). We played Signed, sealed delivered when we walked out. We also had a dessert buffet instead of serving a meal and we didnt have a guest book. We had a wishing well instead, with a sign that said. "weddings are more than rings and tossed rice, so grab a pen and write some advise".
