We have a co ed softball team, last week one of the girls on our team did some major sliding in to 2nd base and broke her ankle in two places had to have surgery and got pins put in well. I suggested we all chip in and send her some flowers. Now there is another girl that is sending out that we vote on it either flowers or a gift certificate for 25 bucks to some resturant that most of us do not know of. Trying to be nice about it but I was not 5 mins away from calling the flower place to order flowers. Should I wait to see what everyone says or just ignore her and do what we were orginally going to do.
Flowers or gift Certificate?
flowers....
Reply:cash! Flowers die, and some gift certificates expire before they are used.
Reply:*Flowers*
Reply:both :]
Reply:gift certificates are thoughtless and screams laziness and lack of creativity.
flowers.
Reply:Flowers. I have never heard of giving a gift certificate to someone in the hospital. If there is a particular candy she likes, you might want to send that too. But not a gift certificate.
Reply:wellu shooul do w/e u wantto do!!!!!!
does this team matelike flowers???
wellgo w/ wat ur heart tells u to do♥♥
Reply:well it's annoying that she feels like she has to take over and vote but what's done is done. wait for the vote be democratic about it ;)
Reply:I would send flowers because they are thoughtful. How is she going to use a gift certificate when she has a broken ankle? She might be self-conscious about people looking at her. I would prefer the flowers.
Reply:I feel gift cards can be a little impersonal when you don't know the person thaaatttt well. Its a sympathy/get well gift, not a birthday present.
I would go with the flowers!
Reply:id say both. tell her good luck with her ankle, owch!
Reply:Come on. Flowers of course. The restaurant may give her indigestion and then she'll never get back to softball.
Reply:How about a compromise. Get a gift certificate to a place you've all heard of and that you know she will use. If you still want to give her flowers, pick up some grower's bunches at the grocery store, arrange them yourselves and hand deliver the certificate and less-expensive flowers.
She'll appreciate the visit.
Reply:always flowers for a woman. she might not like the food and might not have anyone to go with.
Reply:I would wait on the vote, since it is not only your money. Both sound fine, she will be happy with either I am sure. Good Luck!
Reply:I really think that you should get her flowers. I mean a gift certificate would be nice, but usually when a person gets hurt, you don't go in and hand them a gift certificate and say, "Oh, I hope you get better." You'd more likely see yourself going in with flowers and saying that. I guess there's just this thing where flowers have this...idk odd way of making someone feel better or something.
Reply:If no one makes a decision, I would just take up a collection for flowers.
Reply:Flowers....but if you need to give money/gift certificate
how about a visa gift card, that way, she could pick the resturant, or get anything else she needs like, a perscription.......:)
Reply:Flowers. They will be shown off in her hospital room or house and bring her pleasure with no obligation to do anything about them. That's why flowers rather than a plant. It may be a long time before she can go out to the restaurant; and, if the card isn't enough to pay for her full meal, it will obligate her to spend more on something she might not have wanted to do in the first place.
