What is a nice hostess gift for my daughter to give her boyfriend's mother (or parents)?

My college age daughter's boyfriend and his parents have begun to regularly invite her for weekends at their home. She likes to take a small hostess gift and has given flowers and homemade cookies, which were well received. She can't take wine, as she is under age and could get in trouble with the law if she were stopped with alcohol in the car. She is on a limited budget. Please help with suggestions, as these people are very special to her!

What is a nice hostess gift for my daughter to give her boyfriend's mother (or parents)?
Chocolates, candles, soap, towels, cakes, pies, coffee-table books, fruits, candies, small potted plants, jams......
Reply:homemade things are always nice and truly show that you care.

Cookies or other baked goods are a great idea. Another idea is take a jar and layer the dry ingredients for cookies in it and include a recipe card with it.

When it gets cold out you can do the same thing with hot chocolate in a mug

Maybe a couple candles?

I think anything homemade is great! That is so nice of your daughter to take some hostess gifts!
Reply:Can she cook? Tell her to take an entree for dinner. Maybe some flavored coffee, like hazelnut or french vanilla. A nice picture, in a nice picture frame of her and boyfriend. Maybe a good movie on DVD. She's a very lucky young lady. A lot of parents don't like their children's choices in mates.
Reply:Fruit, canned fruits/jellies from fruit stands, candles, cakes, tell her to pay attention to things they like...you can usually see around the home. Flea Markets are great spots to find the unique and even cheap!
Reply:Art pictures are actually great gifts for any occasion. You could check out the website www.photoartomation.com.They have plenty ideas for any occasion.
Reply:Just keep with the cookies and baked goods. Something made herself is more special than a purchased gift. A nice thank you note at the end of the visit is good too.
Reply:A gift certificate to a spa would be greatly appreciated.
Reply:maybe some spiced cider aka non alcoholic champagne

I want to send my gf flowers. The problem is, she is in Korea. Anyone know how I get flowers over there?

I would like to send my girlfriend flowers or a nice gift but I'm on a budget as well. Anyone have ideas?

I want to send my gf flowers. The problem is, she is in Korea. Anyone know how I get flowers over there?
FTD delivers world wide. (no, I can't remember what that stands for) Just go to the website, and tell them where you want them sent.

The only thing you need is a credit card.
Reply:Yes,

I know exactly what you could do.

There are green houses and flower places every where all you would need to do is send some money over to the nearest store they have and tell them to deliver some. and they will reach the nearst one in korea that could deliver then to her. and if you would like to buy her a gift.. buy her a gift then send it to her in the mail. If that doesn't work then just get her a card an send.
Reply:look up and call a flower shop there and have them send her flowers with a sweet luv note on it
Reply:get someone over there to get the flowers for you. pay them somehow and let them get the flowers to her.
Reply:will 1-800-flowers do it?
Reply:http://www.leeflower.com/flowershop.htm
Reply:Best way would be to find an international flower deliverer on the web.

What would you rather receive as a gift for a special occasion, flowers or a plant?

flowers are so nice, but they die, and you throw them away.

plants are cool, because you keep them and keep getting reminded of the reason why you got it. so....id have to go with a plant. but not just any ole plant, make it a nice one!

What would you rather receive as a gift for a special occasion, flowers or a plant?
I like plants as gifts, but if it's a formal occasion potted plants are out of the question, better get the floral arrangement for graduations and such.

But if your giving the gift at home or somewhere when no one really knows your giving or cares then plants are the way to go. I give hanging plants to all the special mothers in my family for Mother's Day. They love them and I love seeing them on their porches later in summer when they are huge and blooming.

....I prefer plants, firstly, because they don't smell like a funeral parlor. Secondly, because they can last a lifetime. Flowers wither within 2 or 3 days, bummer for all the cash ya just flushed.
Reply:a plant, then I can be reminded of my special occasion each time I see the plant. Flowers die after a week or two.
Reply:Flowers, but only SILK! I have 30 cats, so I can't have a plant, however, if it was a SILK plant, I'd love it cause silk plants look so real but are too expensive!
Reply:Flowers! I have too many plants already.
Reply:These are both pretty boring. If that's it .. I'll take the plant. I'd rather get a Swiss Army Knife or Multi-tool, a nice fountain pen, a couple of passes to the movies or gift certificate to Barnes and Noble.
Reply:depends on what would be sent and for what occasion. being a florist i would rather recieve a gift basket.
Reply:a plant ...flowers die in few hours ..plant has longer life *-*

What Gifts to women like on first dates...?

What Gifts to women like on first dates... Flowers, Chocalate, Perfume, or jewellery

What Gifts to women like on first dates...?
Too much already! On a first date you will be buying the tickets and/or paying for the meal. A woman likes to be treated well but not feel obligated. If you are going to the theatre or somewhere fancy you might impress her with a corsage (small flower eg orchid to pin to dress) but I would play the first date low key and maybe send her flowers afterwards say the next day, or for me an orchid in a pot -exotic plant for rare and beautiful lady.

The trick for the first date is to find something she would do ANYWAY - like for a boy you would take him to a football match. So do your homework on the girl before you go splashing out again!
Reply:Id say the best gift would be for you just to turn up
Reply:Try something different. Check out www.breezybeachwear.com for some great gifts that would be appropriate for the 1st date. :)
Reply:Honesty is the number one gift any man can give a woman

that and a fish and chip supper what more does a girl need
Reply:flowers
Reply:well id like a black rose but normal women probably 1 pink rose
Reply:personally i wouldnt expect any gifts on the first date.

if you really want to take something then i would probably say a single flower, nothing cheap tho!! xx
Reply:You don't want to give too much too soon otherwise most women will think that they can walk all over you. I think that the idea of bring something for a woman on a first date is lovely and that simple flowers or roses, depending on how well you know her, is perfect.

Good luck!
Reply:A single red rose would be very romantic!

and it's not over doing it
Reply:A pile of dirty washing or ironing doesn't go down too well, best leave that kind of thing till at least the second date - try buying a packet of fruit flavoured condoms and letting her choose her favourite.. it shows you care and have been thinking about her
Reply:Keep it simple, flowers or chocolates I would say.
Reply:On a first date go for a single rose or simple bouquet. Maybe even something you have growing in your yard?? if available. DON"T go overboard. Keep it simple for the first few dates. Perfume and Jewelry should be saved for dates WAY down the road.---like an anniversary date i.e. 3 month or 6 month, etc. (personally I don't like perfume from a guy---I like to pick my own scent.)
Reply:go easy on the first date.

A small bunch of flowers will be more than enough.
Reply:i'll say flowers and chocolate...
Reply:flowers and chocolates.not cheap flowers tho or they will think you don't think that you like them that much if you go cheap.but you don't have to go to dear just in between. good luck on your date.
Reply:Flowers always go down well. Jewellery is too personal for a first date and might be over the top for a lot of women.
Reply:I would suggest flowers is the safest bet.

Chocolates she may be on a diet.

Perfume - is a personal choice and would come when you know her better.

Jewellery - way down the line.

Give to much too soon she may think she is on to a good thing and keep with you for personal gain. Be careful with your generosity. Good Luck.
Reply:Flowers
Reply:i say jewlery
Reply:FLOWERS ARE A GREAT WAY TO START A FIRST DATE, ALSO MAKE SURE YOU OPEN ALL DOORS FOR HER, PULL OUT HER CHAIR IF YOU GO OUT TO DINNER, LET HER TALLK ABOUT HERSELF FIRST,ACT INTERESTED IN EVERYTHING SHE SAYS, THAT SHPULD GET YOU A SECOND DATE IF ALL GOES WELL, GOOD LUCK
Reply:Be careful dont go too up market ona first date, just flower or chocs on the first date, save the jewellery and perfume for in the future when you know her better, it is very difficult to choose jewellery and perfume she will like without knowing her very well. Its very personal type of gifts. Good luck.
Reply:DO NOT present a gift on the first date, it might be seen as creepy or controlling.
Reply:just 1 rich,red ROZE!
Reply:i think in my experience a woman like something frozen like a sara lee choc cake try it

What are some sweet things i can do for my girlfriend to show her i love her or im thinking about her?

OK flowers, gifts, and taking her to dinner, and text messages and emails are all things i have done in the past. I need fresh ideas! What can i do to show her my feelings

What are some sweet things i can do for my girlfriend to show her i love her or im thinking about her?
leave little notes in places you know she will look. surprise her @ work with lunch (if shes in hs take her lunch)

those are some ideas...hope that helps a lil

that is so sweet of you to do things like that for you GF! dont ever stop!
Reply:cook her fav food
Reply:if you are near her leave a note on her car after work or something. Send her a love note thru snail mail (even if you live together). Take her shopping, COOK her dinner, invite her parents to dinner, get a pet together. etc.

Ur girl is lucky to have you!
Reply:send her text messages in another language. my bf is from India and i send him msgs sometimes in his language. he thinks this is crazy sweet b/c i don't know a word of Hindi so he know i put time and effort into looking up the correct spellings and translations.

try also leaving short sweet notes in her pocket before she gets to work. how about leaving a short msg for her in the local newspaper. I've heard its around 20.00 dollars depending how long you make it.
Reply:Do something that seems "strange" but equals to sweet. I saw on this television show that a guy bought his girl friend a letter opener.. She looked at it and was like.. what the heck... but then he explained to her... That for the rest of his life he would write her a letter at the end of the year telling her how much he loved her and she would open all the letters with that letter opener... Maybe you should take her somewhere she has never been... Do something for her that you have never done before... Show her you really care and aren't afraid for the world to know... But be original your past tactics are kind of... Useddd up. Good luck you sound like a great guy
Reply:why don't you surprise her with a romantic picnic in a park, or on the beach at sunset (i don't know if you are by the water or not but it's an idea)! also, maybe a romatic weekend away somewhere... just get in the car and don't tell her where you're going. you could also cook her a nice dinner.
Reply:Leave her sticky notes "thinking of you", "I miss you", can't wait to _____ you" in places where she would find them.

What kind of Birthday gift should I give my boss?

She is a chiropractor who is nicest person I have ever met. I have only been working for her for about 5 months. Patients love her and always give her all kinds of gifts: bells, keepsakes, ornaments, flowers, food, pictures, and just about everything. I want to give her something simple.. But not something that she already has hundreds of, stored in her basement :)

Any ideas?? I think she is going be 38. or 39.

Any help will be appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What kind of Birthday gift should I give my boss?
Put together a really nice tray of home made cookies for when she has company over the holidays.

A music box

Pretty scarf and gloves

An online site to send flowers to my boyfriend?

He lives in Canada, Missisauga. I live in Singapore. His birthday is coming up and i've got a big surprise for him. But i want to give him a bouquet 2 days before his birthday, to have him anticipate his gift. Do you guys know of any online store that i can get flowers for less than 50 canadian bucks??

An online site to send flowers to my boyfriend?
You could try: "World-Florists.com" and also, "flowersonly.com/" ---- "proflowers.com" and, "hallmark.com" are possible sites for gift service, too!
Reply:Save your money. Unless he is gay, no guy's want to receive flowers. Think of something else to send him. Some naked photos of you would be a much better idea.
Reply:Yes I have been putting together a site that lets you send flowers worldwide direct from the local florist.

You can select your currency, including Canadian dollars.

You can do it all online, so you pick the picutre of the flowers or gift basket you want - heaps to choose from.

You can shop by price.

You can have next day and same day deliveries too.

Hope he has a great birthday, shame you can't be there with him.

It's your anniversary, your boyfriend sent you flowers, but your gift is going to be late would you feel bad

Maybe a little, but be honest with him, and let him know it's on it's way. Buy him something small, like a card and write down in there what he is getting and when it's going to be there. A friend of mine once put a picture in a card of the item, that works as well.

It's your anniversary, your boyfriend sent you flowers, but your gift is going to be late would you feel bad
Yes, but I would explain I got something special, a nice surprise and he will like it.
Reply:absolutely not - realize that you have a good thing and dont worry about the material bull sh*t
Reply:no, he should be happy he has you. The gift will come eventually and he will be even more happy.
Reply:yes i would. you can always write him a sweet poem with a pretty picture and put some lipstick on and smack it up and tell him the rest is for later ;) that might get his mind off the no-gift thing
Reply:no.... not at all... things happen in life... you have to be flexible! ... and waiting for it will just build up the excitement and mystery of it... plus hey you have flowers in the meantime! life is too short to get upset over trivial things!
Reply:no.. I'd just inform him that it's going to be late
Reply:Only if you were a bit_h about it!
Reply:no he should understand
Reply:no
Reply:yes
Reply:No Everone makes mistakes and things run late. Just be glad that he didn't forget you anniversary, and enjoy what you get when you get it.
Reply:absolutely not
Reply:NO, why would you be mad? It's the thought that counts. If the intention is good then it doesn't matter if it gets there on time.
Reply:only if i was a stuck-up b*tch
Reply:No, it is not like you forgot. You just tell him that it will get to him soon, and he should understand. If not, that is his problem.
Reply:I wouldn't feel bad because guys don't care about gifts they are just happy that they have a great girl. Just let him know that you ordered his gift but it is running a little bit behind. Maybe get him a card on that day so he knows you didn't forget. Men dont' usually care about this stuff.
Reply:You shouldn't if you give him other gifts in the bedroom!!!!!
Reply:Well he just sent you flowers if your present is better than dat then he can wait. my answer is no
Reply:No, definitly not. Nope, not in the least bit.
Reply:nopers. i wouldn't worry about it being late (unless you just forgot).

my husband sometimes gets his presents on next weekend following an anniversay just cause most are video games or things he would get the best use of during his weekend.

or if shipping is delay
Reply:hope its good enough to make it up
Reply:I wouldn't feel bad. Cause he might of have an emergency errand to do. Well at least he gives you something on your anniversery.
Reply:Id go get something or make a card and say in it The Best is yet to come" at least that way he knows you didnt forget and you love him
Reply:YES I WOULD YOUR A MEANY PERSON

I give flowers to my younger sister every chrismas, it happen she has many , what do i give her now?
"CHOCOLATES"!!!!!!!....YUM!!!!
Reply:She would probably be expecting flowers so surprise her and get her something different. I would get her perfume.

Brand: Escada called Paradise is beautiful - it smells so sweet. Or a nice Fiorelli or Jag handbag, pair of earrings or necklace. If you are still stuck go with a gift voucher! always works for me.

Good luck
Reply:give her bear or chocolate

Invitation says "NO GIFTS" do I still get a gift?

My Aunt and Uncle's 40th wedding aniversary party is tonight at a bar. Its nothing fancy. The invite says NO GIFTS. Is there something cheap and quick I should pick up (card?, flowers?) or should I just skip the gift idea?

Invitation says "NO GIFTS" do I still get a gift?
A card is great, its not really a gift, but it shows you care, you know?
Reply:Get a card, not a gift.

They probably have everything they need at that age and they do not want to clutter up the house with extra junk. Also, many people feel that if they come to something they must bring a gift so instead they just do not go. It probably is more important to your Aunt and Uncle that the whole family comes and they do not want anyone feeling bad for either not coming or bringing a cheap gift.
Reply:i've had one of these invitations before, but i still got a card. you dont have to buy anything but it would be a nice gesture if you did.
Reply:Just a card is fine. If you feel compelled to get them something, do a small gift card ($20 or so) that fits into the envelope, so it doesn't stand out as a gift if no one else gets them anything.
Reply:Respect their wishes and don't bring a gift to the party. It may embarrass them and make others uncomfortable that they didn't bring a gift. Maybe you can send flowers or a card the next day, and mentioned you had a good time (if you did.)
Reply:I would not take anything, if you bring something then others will feel as though they should have done the same. Mail a card or send flowers if you feel something more is needed. Hugs can go a long way and to let them know you are happy in your life. Take the time and pray for their continued happiness and thank God for what he has given them in their life.
Reply:Yup you always get a gift and if you see no gifts there you just don't bring in the gift.
Reply:I would'nt take a gift to the party, it may embarass those who did'nt, Maybe send some flowers to there home !
Reply:Send a gift tomorrow.
Reply:Just get a card, something sappy.
Reply:No gifts means no gifts. Just bring a card.
Reply:Cards or flowers are fine, but nothing major, like towels or hardware
Reply:A card. Just a card with your own words of celebration.
Reply:If they said "No Gifts" then a card is perfectly acceptable and the best way to show that you care. Just respect the "no gifts" thing - alot of people just want to spend time with those they love and really don't need or want stuff - especially once you hit 40. Gifts for family really should be restricted to those 18 and under or weddings, showers etc... unless you're especially close.
Reply:If you want, a card will do.
Reply:I would get a card for sure.
Reply:maybe a gag gift,or something to make everyone laugh, if its your relative and your close you can get them something and give it later.
Reply:When an invitation says "NO Gifts" they mean what they say. They are inviting you because they want to enjoy your company.
Reply:I'd take them at their word. If you bring a token and someone else doesn't, then that person may feel bad. Maybe bring a bottle of wine to the celebration for everyone to share if the situation is appropriate. Otherwise, I do as they request.
Reply:just be there for them. ur time is more than a present.
Reply:no gifts means no gifts, a card is fine
Reply:Nice little question,,,YES,, when it says not gifts ,, you have to stick to it,,, BUT,,, if you want to check with them twice or trice,, you had better visit them acouple days ahead,, and get to know the real meaning of it, or else,, if they in their conversation,, you happend to know that they are in need of something you get it for them i meant if it is within your budjet,, of course,,,,Cherrs!!!
Reply:no gifts they said
Reply:ask other family members what they are doing, maybe you all could put a lil money in 1 big gift or something.
Reply:I think a nice card would be fine. Skip the gift.
Reply:I would bring a card at most. They don't want to be juggling ten bouquets in the bar and on the way home. You could also ask them if there is a charity you could donate something to in their names (if you like them that much)
Reply:Always, always bring a gift EVEN IF the invitation says "No Gift". In which case, you walk in without your gift and if you see no gifts you are fine; if you see gifts you say, "oh I left mine in the car and go back and get it" so you are always covered and never embarrassed.

In this case, I think some type of framed family picture should do nicely
Reply:if it says no gifts then dont worry about the gift, for all they know u cudda given them a good gift. THEY miss out. but yeah a card or a bottle of champagne or a bunch of flowers would nice.

I want to send a gift to my grandad in the hospital- are flowers OK?

I can't send chocolate or wine, as he is too ill for that, so it's the only thing I can think of to send, but I'm never sure whether flowers are OK for a man.

I want to send a gift to my grandad in the hospital- are flowers OK?
Some hospitals don't allow flowers on certain wards now, you would be best checking. My partners mum was recently in hospital and she couldn't have any on the ward she was on.
Reply:Flowers are fine for a man - just be sure they're sent in a vase so there's no problem about finding something to put them in or arranging them.
Reply:Flowers are ok if he is no on chemotherapy, if he is not immunosuppressed and if he doesn't have MRSa or other bacteria
Reply:Flowers are lovely in a hospital situation, because they bring some life and colour into a room which can be very gloomy.

Bright colours are usually welcome, and try to get an arrangement which comes with its own basket or box, because in many hospitals finding a vase can be a chore.

Best wishes for an improvement in your grandad's health! :-)
Reply:Yes, they are a great gift for anyone and will brighten their day just knowing you cared.
Reply:not all hospitals allow flowers to be given to patients since they aren't particularly hygenic. You'll have to check first with the hospital ward he's on.
Reply:Yes, flowers are good.
Reply:Flowers are fine. The best gift you can send him is a big hug and kiss, and tell him that you love him.
Reply:Many hospitals have flower shops on their premises. Check to see if they can do this online.
Reply:he will love them

i know we guys aint supposed to like flowers but secretly most of us do

all the best

Ian
Reply:What a lovely thought, but you had better check with the Hospital first as a lot will not allow flowers any more for MRSA purposes. A card will give as much pleasure.

Hope he recovers soon.
Reply:PLEASE PLEASE DONT SEND FLOWERS INTO A HOSPITAL.

I know it seems like the right thing to do, but it is a sure way to piss off all the nurses.

Also, they are a health risk.

Nurses are not florests, they are not there to take care of patients flowers - they are there to take care of the patients.

Why dont you buy him a cheap personal CD player and some of his favourite music.
Reply:yes flowers are fine
Reply:It's best to not send flowers as they're not allowed in many wards, particularly those with patients suffering from cancer. Send your grandad a card together with a handwritten letter showing how much you are thinking of him.
Reply:Flowers collect dust and germs send acard!
Reply:how about a basket of mixed fruit instead.

Need ideas for cheerful gifts for a severly sick child...also for the mom?

We just learned that a 3 1/2 year old in our family is very ill. What are some cheerful gifts that would be appropriate? What about the mom that is going through all of this? I don't want to send flowers or anything else that would just remind them of being ill, rather something that would take away from the "get well" theme, rather just show encouragement to stay strong.

Need ideas for cheerful gifts for a severly sick child...also for the mom?
For the mom - how about either cooking some dinners, or arranging for some dinners to be delivered, or even gift certificates to take out places.... I'm sure cooking is the last thing she wants to focus on, and it will lift that burden for her.

For the child.... I'm not sure how incapacitated he/she is.... but maybe some arts and crafts projects, or a Leapster to play video games (they have preschool educational games) or any toy that would interest the child would cheer them up.

I'm so sorry to hear about the ill child, I pray for a speedy recovery!
Reply:We recently had a sick child in our mom's group and we all gathered things to give the child and family. They had to spend a lot of time both in the hospital and going for outpatient procedures so we all cooked some meals for them so they didn't have to rely on fast food. Some were frozen and some we took over there fresh. We also took things such as Nutrigrain bars and healthy snacks to have in the hospital. One person got a small cute stuffed toy and had her priest say a blessing over it for the child. If the person is at all religious, this is a wonderful idea. Books and movies and music are also really great to pass the time. If they don't have a portable DVD player, you may want to get something like that. They are quite reasonably priced nowadays. We also got them gas cards since the trip to the hospital got expensive. I know it isn't a fun gift, but it was much appreciated, especially with gas prices these days. Even the best insurance doesn't cover that!
Reply:it deped on how the child is sick u dont want to get things the child CANT do

maybe puzzles

books

movies

something the child can put together all by theirselves

like an artsy crafty thing

for the mom

make dinner or give her a minute to get things done and stay with the child

run errrands

just do whatever she needs

i wouldnt get something persay i would ask what she needs b4 getting little knicknacks or flowers i am sure she NEEDS soemthing more helpful than flowers i dunno u just gotta talk to the family

hope i was helpful

and the child is in our prayers!!!!!!!!
Reply:Books for the little one, dvds, playdough, anything by leap frog, potato head, coloring books,

For mom, offer to stay with the child so they can go to lunch or dinner, gift cards to dinner, clean her house, do laundry, make dinners, books/magazines, mani/peti gift cards, food brought to the hospital.

i had a sick child and all of those things were very helpful.

Hope the little one is better soon!
Reply:Music for the little one. There are a multitude of kids cd's out there that have all the favorites to sing along with.

For the mom - gift card for a massage or manicure/pedicure.
Reply:Any toy that can easily be played in bed. Also, a BIG book so Mom/Dad/G-parents can take turns reading. Maybe some coloring books. I don't think children really know how sick they are or understand the severity of it. So toys in general will cheer them up.

For the mom, if I were her you would probably have to sedate me to leave my child if it's that bad. So perhaps if they are at a hospital, bring her lunch or offer to sit with the child while she goes and gets a bite to eat or whatever she needs to do.
Reply:For the child - movies, sticker books, board games, books, stuffed animals, puzzles, Play Doh

For the mom - food/restaurant gift certificates

Is it true that flowers can make a woman's happy after having a fight with her BF?

Flowers are the most chosen gift by men as they tend to melt the women's heart...

Is it true that flowers can make a woman's happy after having a fight with her BF?
YES try it and see.
Reply:depends on the fight

but YES it defiantly helps
Reply:No, showing that you care enough to admit that you were wrong and want to make it up is what cheers her up. Flowers can be a symbol of this, if you truely mean it.
Reply:if u ask me it's a yes....!!!! especially roses.....they're so beautiful n delicate...

What Taiwanese/Chinese customs can I use at a bridal shower?

We're planning a shower for our friend from Taiwan and want to use some wedding customs for the shower. I'd like to know how to decorate (colors and flowers) and what gifts I should give.

What Taiwanese/Chinese customs can I use at a bridal shower?
Can you ask her Taiwanese/Chinese relatives?

You can also check out customs online. See this site:

A question for men

Flowers for people with allergies?

My mother in law has allergies, but my husband wants to get her some flowers for Mothers Day. Are there any flowers that she may be able to tolerate, or should we go a different route for a gift?

Flowers for people with allergies?
Katie: Is she allergic to flowers? Just because she is allergic to ragweed doesn't mean she is allergic to roses. Allergy to dust mites doesn't make you allergic to carnations.

Does your hubby know if his Mom is allergic to flowers? If he knows that she is not....then go for it...I'm a Mom and I love to get flowers. If she is allergic to flowers but likes plants, give her an herb garden. Plant several herbs in a pot and she can enjoy looking at them, enjoy the fragrance from their leaves, and cook with them. Just a suggestion

What do guys think when they get flowers as a gift? doyou like them?

well seeing how we don't have much use for them i would have to say we don't dislike them but really don't want them as we are not as sentimental as girls.Plus it's the thought that I really appreciate not really the gift.

What do guys think when they get flowers as a gift? doyou like them?

i would be aswell giving her the card now!

Who else has received their Valentine's flowers yet?
I got mine too. It's ok though. I suspect the florists will be run raggged tommorrow so being an old married woman I don't mind getting them early.

What present should I get for my counselor?

She is a student finishing her PH.D, I find her advice helpful.

I was thinking either flowers or a target gift card.

I know flowers seem like a weird gift but I feel like a lot of women like them but just don't get them enough but then again, our relationship is professional.

What present should I get for my counselor?
I would give her something that would last. Maybe a small figurine or something that relates to her Ph.D or something that is between you and her.
Reply:I am a woman, (see my cute avatar) and I have both given and received flowers from other women. And I am not gay either, dear asker. Flowers are asexual. Their beauty can be enjoyed by all and given between any two persons.

I think a warm letter of thanks from you and a beautiful bouquet of flowers would be very thoughtful and personal. If I were your mentor, I would appreciate receiving such a gift.

Your words of thanks will be as fragrant as the flowers, trust me!
Reply:PH.D in what? You could think of something creative that has to do with her studying subject of choice.

Never heard of a woman giving flowers to another that wasn't for a funeral or wedding. But why not?

Do you like receiving flowers as a gift?

OOoooo yes, especially if it is delivered at work, you feel dead special

What is the name of those things used to decorate around Christmas called "nose-something"??

they are made like fake flowers (on a wire stick) and have something on the ends like small fake wrapped gifts, pine cones and flowers, or something else Christmasy. You stick them in bare spot in your tree.

What is the name of those things used to decorate around Christmas called "nose-something"??
A nosegay, posey, flower bouquet or tussie-mussie is a small bunch of flowers, typically given as a gift.

Is that what you were thinking of?

Should I send my Ex-fiance a Birthday gift or flowers?

My fiance, whom I dated for more than 4 years broke up with me in June, 5 days before our wedding, I thought we had an AMAZING RELATIONSHIP and would do anything for her. Needless to say I was completely and utterly devastated. She told me she needs to find herself and her individuality, and that she was depressed. I miss her more than words and it is now January, and it is her birthday next week. Should I send a gift, I don't know if it's the right thing to do, I did go out with her for 4 years. What should I do?

Should I send my Ex-fiance a Birthday gift or flowers?
I completey disagree with all these folks. Sounds like these chicks want you to be a doormat.

Absolutely send flowers... And a gift in an oversized box! Make an incredably big scene of it. Get the ballons too. An oversized card with very lovely writting. Have it delivered to someplace where there will be a lot of "her" people. The more people, the better! And, you do not have to spend a lot of money either.

Now here is the important part. Do not take her calls nor talk to her. Do not respond to her text messages. NOTHING!

You are too busy. Make a date and be out on it. Even if your date is with a firehydrant. It is none of her business who you are with.

If she sees you, hurry past her, smile and tell her you are glad she got them... "But, I am just running so late right now. I will talk to you later..." But do not.

The more you do not want her, the more she will want you.

You are the guy on the move, upwardly mobile... going places (and here is the important part) without her!

Let me know how it works out.

Good luck.
Reply:PLEASE... Don't waste another penny or another moment on her. She has made her choice. I know it is hard. I know you are going to think of her all the time for a while. But everything you do for her will just make things that much harder for you. Don't drown yourself in wishful thinking. Let go, my friend.

Peace be with you...
Reply:send her flowers and a cute little card. what's the harm? you'll probably get a smile out of her at least ;)
Reply:The Wrong Answer Again sounds genious to me!
Reply:Do you still keep in touch with her? If she has severed all contact with you, I would probably recommend NOT sending her anything. If you two are still cordial and keep in touch every now and again, you could mail her a card that simply says "I hope you have a great birthday!" If you send her flowers or a gift, it might send her a message that you're crowding her again and the last thing you want to do it make it seem like you want to smother her. Good luck!
Reply:No gifts. Let go.

It's my Mom's 65th birthday this Sunday, I always buy flowers or plants, I need different ideas for a gift

Want would you suggest.

It's my Mom's 65th birthday this Sunday, I always buy flowers or plants, I need different ideas for a gift
If you had the time, you could have gotten her a Mother's ring, that have the children's birthday gemstones in them. (Maybe for M. Day.)
Reply:Anything written from your heart ... my son wrote me something that I will treasure forever ! You'll do well !
Reply:ha..depends on what's falling apart...maybe buy a new purse, new wallet, a housedress (or jeans or whatever she wears around the house, or slippers or just comfy shoes), maybe a battery and plug in radio (she should already have flashlights), maybe a new HD tv or pay for the digital box she might need. Does she do crafts? then maybe she needs something from Michaels craft store (take her there...my mom once took me to K-Mart and let me buy what I wanted and I bought blouse material and a candy fish). Does she need earphones, a cam or a scanner or printer for her pc? Is there anything for security that she needs? Since she's moving into a new phase maybe there's something from her past phase you want her to remember like maybe in a frame, or a collage in a frame. I have 8 beautiful flowers from Michaels that look real and I continually enjoy them (two colors of roses both buds and flowering and some poenies).
Reply:Take her on a special shopping trip .Let her pick something special. Maybe purchase a visa card in advance so the amount of money will not be an abject.Moms love spending time with their children. That's what is important.Maybe lunch afterwards.
Reply:Gift certificate for a meal or a spa day. Tickets to a play. Year's pass to the movies or a year's rental of dvds. Spend time with her if you're nearby , take her to dinner or brunch or shopping and you pay for it all.

Wish her a happy sixty fifth!
Reply:Take her to a nice restaurant and treat her like she's a queen which, of course, she is.

Enjoy every minute you possibly can with your precious mother and I hope this birthday turns out to be one of her happiest and most joyful ones ever
Reply:If you have always bought some kind of flower you need to do that because since you have always done this I would...send flowers and have them special delivered to her home and then plan a special enening together just you and her either take her out or make her favorite dinner.Spending time in a special way will be the most important gift you can give her.If you have time or the means take her out of town for the weekend.Enjoy your Mom while she's still here.
Reply:I love everything my children give me because it tells me they love me and are thoughtful.

A pretty bracelet or necklace is nice. It doesn't have to be expensive. You can buy nice jewelry for the same cost as a flower arrangement.
Reply:i would go with wine and a cheese tray!!!
Reply:If you were my child, and you really wanted to get something for me that I need, I would request a decent wine opener. I have never bought one that really works. There are some kind of expensive ones that are easy to use, but I won't spend the money. I wish my kids would get one for me. This of course, won't be appropriate if your Mom doesn't drink wine. Otherwise, stick with the plants. We all love them.
Reply:She is a woman.

Buy her a nice bottle of her favorite fragrance...or indulge her in a really fine and luxurious body lotion.

Give her a gift certificate at a day spa or at a local salon for a massage and make-up makeover.....

Let her know that you recognize her as woman first, mother second.

Trust me, she'll use it.
Reply:what a photo montage of your fam... hobby lobby has frame sets or some frames sort of together.
Reply:Take her out to a fine restaurant and make sure you let the waitpeople know that it is your mom's birthday.
Reply:A Digital Keychain it's the new brag book.....she or you can load it up with pictures of family or travel .....or a Digital Frame for the home......
Reply:I would suggest a lunch or dinner out at the restaurant of her

choice. Followed by a little birthday cake that could be pre-

sented afterward with a candle for her to blow out. Some

restaurants will have staff sing Happy Birthday in addition to

the cake, or a cupcake. You will have to make arrangements

with the manager by phone to get it set up though. The 65th

is a special birthday, as she's definately leaving her youth

behind. So it should be marked with something to make her

really happy. I will be celebrating my 65th this September, and

I hope I can be surprised on that special occasion myself.
Reply:I'm older then your Mother but flowers are just so beautiful, I always love when I get flowers. So how about flowers and taking her out for dinner.
Reply:Take her to dinner at a nice restaurant like Outback or Olive Garden.
Reply:That number 65 is a magic number. Spoil your Mum a lot. If you can afford it (and if she likes it) buy her some good perfume! Or, take her to dinner and make the waitstaff aware that it is her birthday,. They will probably sing Happy Birthday to her during desert! Or if you have a limited budget, why not get her a really nice Birthday Cake from Baskin Robbins ( the ice cream kind)! These always go over well. Any jewelry, or clothing is another welcome gift. CJ (I just turned 66)!
Reply:YOU PROBABLY KNOW BETTER THEN ANYONE ON HERE WHAT YOUR MOTHER LIKES OR DISLIKES ARE, BUT MAY I SUGGEST IF YOUR DAD IS THERE, THAT YOU TAKE BOTH OUT FOR DINNER, IF NOT BE PREPARE TO LISTEN ALL ABOUT WHAT YOUR DAD IS DOING OR NOT DOING.
Reply:Out to eat what she likes

Take your camera..ask someone to take a picture of her %26amp; you.

Give her a nice soft pair of PJ's %26amp; beautiful card.
Reply:There's this new photo frame you can buy that holds a bunch of pictures and displays them like a slideshow. It changes pictures automatically. I would buy it and upload a bunch of pictures from her childhood or the kids and grandkids, or wedding pictures. My neighbor got one for her birthday and can't stop talking about it. She LOVES it, and has it in her living room. All her friends want one, including me.

Do the valentines gifts go on sale or clearance at some point TODAY? I'm not going home until they do.?

Does anyone know if Valentines gifts, cards, teddy bears, flowers, etc go on sale TODAY? I'm not paying $29.99 for a freakin teddy bear today when it will be $4.99 tomorrow. There has to be some kind of cut off hour where the clearance prices go down TODAY.

Even if it is at like 9:00 PM tonight, I will stall going home until then. I'll tell my girlfriend I got a flat tire or something %26amp; go to the bar while waiting for the clearance items. Can anyone tell me what time I can expect the clearance prices?

Do the valentines gifts go on sale or clearance at some point TODAY? I'm not going home until they do.?
Usually not til after midnight tonight. They know there will still be frantic husband's and boyfriends running in there at 10 pm, so clearance sales start tomorrow!

It would be good if you were out of town, and weren't going to see your sweetie til the weekend. You could clean up on half price flowers, candy, and teddy bears!
Reply:I would think tomorrow, there not gonna lower the price today for all the people who waited till the last minute to get something
Reply:haha your amazing.. i love it.. Heres what you do my good fellow.. if you get screwed this year.. you buy all these items tomorrow for NEXT YEAR, have a stash in your closet, im equipt for every holiday EVER!

-cheap way out- by a single rose and a small box of chocolates- say "the single rose is for the single love of my life" plain and simple.
Reply:lol you are CHEAP. there are plenty of ways to do something nice/inexpensive without selling out and waiting for the clearance sales. you're crazy. try making your own card w/ a goofy poem that will make her laugh, or do what i did and get a heart shaped pan at hobby lobby (also can find them at the grocery store) and make a pan or brownies or a cake. it will surely make her smile! I also made a crossword with clues like "where we first met" or "place of our first kiss"

etc. you get the idea.
Reply:god you are cheap. maybe you shoud have bought something the day after Valenine's LAST YEAR. But at any rate I hope she figures you out before next year. then you won't have to worry about buying anything because you'll be ALONE. Plus, how much money you think you'll be spending at that bar? loser
Reply:$30.00 for a teddy bear? My boyfriend got me one for only $10.00 at wal-mart. I imagine that they'll put the V-day stuff on clearance tomorrow not today.
Reply:Nope...you gotta wait until tomorrow. Waiting until last minute and trying to find the perfect gift until last minute is pretty darn cheap, not to mention shallow, of you. If you love your girlfriend, go out and get her something you cheapskate!!
Reply:Cheapskate, lol Who knows when the prices go down. I don't think there is an actual cutoff time. Yesterday, I was in Eckerd and the prices were slashed by 50% already so try there. Some places dont wait for tonight or tomorrow. Personally, I would kick your *** if you were drinking without me on Valentine's Day until 9:00pm or later...... Go home early. At least grab one of those big baskets off the street vendors. They will more than likely be cheap on the way home. Good Luck.....Happy Valentine's Day!

What's your Flower Power when buying Valentine Flowers...?

I'm a floral designer and would love to hear some feed back of your opinion as to what "YOU" would like to see at your local flower shop.

Please describe your perfect vase of flowers and the budget that you would like to stay within. Also include if you would like balloons or candy to be included with your gift and the type of flower and it's color, any input will be helpful.

The floral industry is becoming a dying breed in some neighborhoods. I would love to find a way to bring it back and help people to give flowers as a gift that is memorable %26amp; affordable for everyone.

So this inquiring mind wants to know...all input is appreciated.

In my shop, I like to think outside of the box, so nothing is going to surprise me...my attitude......

~Dark Red Roses. They are very romantic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

~No candy.

~No balloons that way you can sneak up to the door with the flowers without her noticing!

~Give or take about $10-$12 dollars mabye. I don't know how much roses usually cost. I would say about $1 a flower that way they are afforadable. But you could make it $2 a flower.Or inbetween that.
Reply:I keep it simple with a single red rose left on my lover's pillow...
Reply:roses.
Reply:You should check out how the German's arrange flowers. They do an excellent job. Then copy their style.
Reply:I love artfully arranged flowers without Baby's Breath and ferns. And no carnations or mums either. All of those items are over-used. Roses are kind of boring and cliche as well.

Don't like balloons or other crap in a bouquet. And just a simple glass or ceramic vase----none of those kitschy vases either.

Flowers: exotic tropicals, hydrangeas, tulips, irises, lilies, gardenias, jasmine, magnolia,.....

Price range: @ $35.00, with lower and higher priced items.

What's the best gift to give my girlfriend on Valentine's day that's not common like flowers or candy?

I think that you should get her a massage gift certificate. Or plan a day to go with her and you both get one. Or, you could just make her a nice candlelight dinner, and then give her the massage yourself (after you set the mood just right).

What's the best gift to give my girlfriend on Valentine's day that's not common like flowers or candy?
wut i would do make it look sexy. if ur old enough. but like a 1000 rose pedels and spred them around in her room. when se sees it she will here some romantic music. then scoree. or get some hot coco with baby marshmellows. sit by the fireplace and watch a romantic movie like the notebook and be cuddled up when u watch it. then say sumthin like i cant keep lookin at u

Do you think what is the nearly ratio bitwen man and woman?

we all know that woman's desire and sexual feelings are very very far less than man's

(women are not visual , women are not so physical , women have very low level of testestseron " the fuel of desire" , women far less interst in sex, women interest more in man's economical status, social status,powe,security,jewels,....etc,wome... are so difficult stimulated unlike man very easy, man is more emotional lover unlike women always say to cover thier shortage of sexual feelings"man who give flowers, gifts, man who kneel and kiss woman's hands and feet, man who make poem......lots of things

so what is the ratio nearly do you think bitween man's and woman's desire? i know it cant be measured ut what about personal thinking?

Do you think what is the nearly ratio bitwen man and woman?
You have a lot to learn about women.

Don't ever assume a woman's sexual desire is "less than" jsut because sh'es not showing it to you. Men decided to give up subtelty a long time ago and women havn't. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's there. It's not less than, just different. The problem is you're measuring it with a man's rules.

I just take the position that women are sexual passionate amazing creatures i will probably never understand, and that's part of the fun.

What stuff to be provided to start a gift shop?

I'm planning to open a gift shop before valentine 2007. I believe my idea will work. However, I need many advice from anyone. Suppose you're someone who wants to give a present to your beloved person. What stuff most likely you buy from a gift shop?(excluding flower and chocolate)

What stuff to be provided to start a gift shop?
This depends on what types of gifts you wish to sell. Are they Christmas gifts or birthday gifts? Naturally, you want to provide the essentials for gifting (i.e., wrapping paper, cards - not necessarily by Hallmark, bows, balloons, etc.). You may also want to investigate what types of items people "gift" to others. For example, some people simply despise having to wrap or ship a gift item; therefore, they may be more inclined to give a gift card (i.e., phone service, restaurant, et. al.). Giving people the option to pick the type of item gifted should, in theory, lead to greater sales. Finally, you may want to also consider a growing phenomenon - the fact that people are now starting to make their own gifts. You could add classes to your store to help people learn how to make gifts of their own inexpensively and provide incentives (i.e., store purchase discounts) when they sign up. That can build loyalty to your store and provide another revenue stream in case the sale of your retail items slows. Bottom line: Make sure you focus on an underserved niche in the gift marketplace, and then, exploit the hell out of it!!! I hope this helps you, and I wish you success in your small business endeavor.

Gift for parents of the ring bearer and flower girls?

I was just wondering if I should give a gift to the parents of the child attendants in my wedding? The parents of the ring bearer are in the wedding, so they will already be getting gifts from us, but my flowers girls' parents are not... should I get them a gift to thank them for letting the girls be in the wedding? I didn't know if this was proper or not.

Gift for parents of the ring bearer and flower girls?
I was given a framed photograph by the bridal couple of my son and the two of them, when he was the ring bearer in their wedding, his father was a groomsman, he received a gift, but of course I was not expecting a gift. I was not in the wedding. It is a lovely gesture, but no, you are not obligated to give the parents of the flower girl a gift.
Reply:gift card 25$ each to toy r' us or Limited Too and/or kid goody bag something to do with hannah montana or craft kit for girls.

what about a silver bracelet with a heart and their names or intial engraved. and with wedding date/names...
Reply:The parents of the Flower Girl(s) are not members of your wedding party so there is no need to buy them a gift.

You can give them a photo album complete with pictures of girls.

What is a good idea for a musical director's gift after a production?

What is a good idea for a musical director's gift after a production?
In my experience...lots and lots of alcohol.
Reply:What about something which will remind him/her of the show? Without knowing what the show is, it is difficult to make a suggestion.
Reply:Musical Directors get a lot of useless piano-shaped knick-knacks and stuff. Something from the show would certainly mean more - A cast photo signed with a metallic pen or sharpie and put in a nice frame is always very nice.
Reply:i'm going to suggest www.creanta.com

they offer beautiful and affordable hand made paintings from your favorite photograph. it's a unique and creative gift. very well thought out and will last a lifetime. what i like of them is that they are reeeeaally good at capturing the physical likeness, something others can’t do. i was extremely happy with the results. in addition to paintings of a loved one, they also do paintings of things of value like the first car, favorite place, a pet, etc. all you need is to send them a photo.

if you ask them, they even send a hand made card in advance of the painting arriving telling the recipient that a special gift is on the way. very nice detail.

best wishes!!
Reply:Get a copy of the program in advance, and a good picture of the ensemble from a dress rehearsal. Go to a framing shop and have them custom cut a matte to fit the program and picture with plenty of extra space in the matting. Then have the cast sign it with a brief thank you.

We've done this sort of gift for coaches and directors and such in the past and it's always quite appreciated, and very personal.

Good luck.
Reply:take a pic of the cast in costume and makeup then get it framed with the artists white framing. make it thick enough for everybody to sign.

this always goes over well with my directors and they hang it up somewhere in the theater.

Are flowers a good Christmas Gift for mom?
Flowers are a great gift and they show that you care especially when you get the ones she really likes.
Reply:If she likes flowers it is.
Reply:flowers die though, how about a gift card to the salon?
Reply:I think flowers make a beautiful Christmas gift--just bring them yourself or arrange for them to be delivered before Christmas Day itself, as most florists won't deliver that day.

Sure, flowers are going to die, but they're meant to be enjoyed while they're alive. Would you rather have a week of beautiful flowers or a lifetime of a trinket collecting dust on the shelf? (Of course, these aren't the only two options.)

1-800-flowers and FTD have beautiful arrangements. Some come with vases or baskets you can keep. If you're putting together the arrangement yourself, you can even get great flowers at the supermarket. You can also find your own vase to put them in.
Reply:Yes, it could be a gift to mom on Christmas. But speaking for myself since I'm a mom, I like to receive flowers on other occasions but not Christmas and my b-day. Most mom prefer something very special for herself on Christmas and bday.

good luck, holly and a jolly, and a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night......
Reply:yea but you could do better, how about a voucher for a massage or a leg wax or a facial. Mums also love hand made gifts from their kids.
Reply:not rele, try getting her jewlery or a gift card
Reply:That depends on if she likes flowers. I love receiving flowers anythime from my children.

You could give her flowers, and/or a houseplant that lives on.
Reply:Yeah, I definitely think so; roses, orchids, special flowers are definitely great Xmas gifts for mom! Have fun!

Should I send my ex a bday present? Card? Flowers?

My ex (went out for a yr) and I still got along really well (talk for hrs often - practically every day) and had hooked up occasionally...after 7 months of this, I decided it was time I needed some space to move on properly. Now i dont wanna get back with her.. but i still dont like hearing about her new guy/s etc. and shes shown some jealous tendencies towards girls i see. I still care for her..as a close friend or even more but im certain i dont want it to go back to a relationship.

I have removed all her contact info from anything that is easily accessible to me..ie phone messenger etc. to get out of the comfort rutt.

But its her bday in a month.. I know im not totally over her.. (slowly getting there).. Will sending a gift/card/flowers be a setback for either of us (I dont intend on going back to the daily talks again)?

She really wanted to keep me in her life but I just cant be friends after a relationship...so the cut off was my decision.

Should I send my ex a bday present? Card? Flowers?
you have to decide.. how important is she in your life.. which position does she take??.. no one can decide that for you.

You decide.. and do the same to let her know.. simple.
Reply:That can be kind of tricky...presents and flowers?..I'm pretty sure you're asking this question because you don't really want to pass up her bday without giving anything at all....but still a present or even flowers I don't think those are good. Flowers are quite meaningful to a girl...and more at that if its from an ex. It would mix things up too much. Just a sweet simple card wishing her a happy birthday and etc. would be nice and friendly-thoughtful. good luck!
Reply:If your trying to cut her off then No, don't get her anything. Otherwise your just going to lead her on.
Reply:You don`t want her in your life so why do you think you should send her something for her bd? It is a bad idea.

You don`t want to have anything around you that reminds you of her so move on.

Get out into the world and meet new people. Join something.

Every time you feel like you want to talk to her just call your mom or sibling.

Guys - how would you feel about RECEIVING flowers on Valentine's day?

This is a traditional gift for a woman, but would you, as a guy, like to receive flowers? Tell me your thoughts, please!

Guys - how would you feel about RECEIVING flowers on Valentine's day?
...as long as they were not lillies, I think it might be kinda fun!...

Opening night gifts?

I know it's proper to give flowers to an actress after her opening night performance. My 9 yr old granddaughter has a part in our community theater production of Annie. So, flowers for her, and maybe a stuffed animal. But, her brother and her soon to be stepfather are in the same production.

What to give an 11 yr old boy after the show? This is his first part, ever. Not a huge part, but decent. The only boy, and the director has found many creative ways to use him thru the scenes. Even invented a line for him. He is very shy, and this production is a reach for him. Also, he has always been one of the people who gift his sister after ballet recitals she's done. Time for him to have a turn at receiving something.

Should I give their step father-to-be something, to celebrate his work too? He has one scene, one solo song, and is also in the chorus. Not as big a thing as it is for the kids. This guy does many things thru the year, and works in shows and productions .

Opening night gifts?
As a theatre actor (actress) myself, I'd like to point out that in a stage play (whether a straight play or a musical) flowers and/or gifts are sent backstage BEFORE the show, to the dressing room, as a "break a leg" gift. You can't say "break a leg" after the show's already over. :) It's different for dance recitals (tho I have no idea why) and it seems they get their flowers afterwards.

I would say balloons and flowers for all the performers! :) And for the kids, the bigger the better. It's such a lovely treat to receive a huge opening night bouquet (or 2 or 3!)backstage before the show. Maybe a smaller bouquet for the step-dad, and of course cards for all! Even tho it's not as big a thing for him, it still takes a lot of guts and commitment to get up onstage in front of people, and he should receive just as many good wishes.

Since her brother has often gifted your grandaughter, maybe you can make sure that they each do a little something for each other as well. Never too early to get the "theatre etiquette" down! :)

Enjoy the show, and your family in it!
Reply:My 9 year old son has been in many shows and his favorite stage gift is balloons, they have many congratulations and break a leg balloons in our flower shops. My daughter also likes these. For the man, why not a simple red rose or maybe three. My husband and teen age boy both enjoy the "stage flowers" they receive, as its about the only time in a year that they do get some! If you are still not sure, my husband also suggested a Starbucks card... gee I like that myself! Good luck... enjoy their show!
Reply:Something to remember the play may be a good way to go. Perhaps a personalized picture frame: "Annie 2007" in which they can perhaps put a picture of the three of them in costume.
Reply:I would get the boy some balloons and candy. The man you could get a nice card and congratulate him on a job well done.
Reply:Perhaps a celebatory dinner after the performance would be nice. Toast the participants with compliments! All three performers would be honored --- perhaps place more enthusiasm on the children to boost their esteem.

Guys - how do you feel if someone sends you flowers on your birthday?

I've been arguing with my mom on this one for a long time now, but I have an aunt that moved away. When she was closer she would usually bake a special cake on my birthday or my sisters. But since she moved away she sends flowers as well as a card and a gift; the flowers usually arrive by a florist on the day. The first time this happened I felt really embarrassed about it and didn't like it. My mom thought it was nice and send it is a custom and not a big deal. Then it happened again last year and some guy friends saw them - none of them have ever had flowers for their birthday before although one had a cousin that had - we were able to laugh it off to a nutty aunt, but it was still awkward. Now with my b'day coming up again I already know that flowers will be coming this year. I've said to my mom that I wish she'd say to not bother or use the money for something else or save it, but my mom's mad at me and told me to thank her when they come

I can't be the only guy who feels this way

Guys - how do you feel if someone sends you flowers on your birthday?
I understand it's a little unusual for men, but I doubt anyone will think less of you at all truly for merely recieving flowers from a family member. I am surprised your mother doesn't understand how you're feeling though, I've recieved embarressing gifts before but my parents were always understanding and they felt less guilt than me when disposing of them. Your birthday is supposed to be an enjoyable time for you, and the last thing she should be worrying about is etiquette on your behalf. I think it would be quite easy for her to discretely hint your aunt to not send them, she might not succeed, but I'm surprised she will not even attempt to remedy the situation. But as i said, don't worry about it, it's likely no one will even see them, make sure your mates aren't around when they're getting delievered if you can and put them in a room where your friends won't go when they come round? I'm sure may guys your age feel the same way, but when you get older I think most realise that they're just a nice gesture. Hope you have a good birthday!
Reply:My sister always sends me flowers for my birthday. I thought it was peculiar at first. I was living in a dorm and got a lot of comments, for sure. But now I understand it as a representation of her love and I even look forward to getting them. Be happy that someone cares enough to send you flowers. And maybe send HER flowers on HER birthday. I bet she'd love it.
Reply:It's not my thing. Personally I think buying dead plants is a waste of time. If they got me something that was still in roots then maybe. I will buy flowers for a girl if I know that she likes it. I think the whole idea is to make the other person happy on their birthday, not yourself.

I wouldn't complain about your aunt though. She cares for you. That's a good thing.
Reply:well my brother got flowers from his gir freind and he said well atleast she thouht of me and i gave my boyfreind flowers and her sister said he waters them every day so dont worry it is sooo normal i mean you should like them its alright and also u can pass it on to a girl u like or ur girlfreind and girls love it when a guy brings them flowers!

hope i helped!
Reply:I think they are a waste of money, but it seems that your Mom likes to have your flowers around the house. When you get your own place, you can tell your aunt you'd rather have socks or underwear. LOL
Reply:I do think it's a little odd, but it's nothing compared to being a total ingrate. Grow up.
Reply:No, I'd be embarrassed to get flowers as a gift too. Maybe talk to your aunt about it.
Reply:Your an immature little thing aren't you? They're just flowers. Get over it.
Reply:I'd rather get something useful. Flowers just die in a few days.
Reply:You are not the only guy. I have felt like this before. the truth is..... I LOVE FLOWERS!
Reply:Give them to your mom.
Reply:Excited, because now I have a 'get out of jail free' card that I didn't have to buy with my own money!
Reply:LOL... run... run from the flowers before they turn you into a girl!!! Ha ha.... Seriously, I agree with gadgitgirlmbl they're just flowers which is a sign of love and feelings for you. It's a nice thing that your aunt is showing you in a way that she can while being away from you. Don't be so nasty about it. If you're that embarrassed then hide them like Double X said from your guy friends, but say thanks to your aunt and show her some respect too.

How do I make my husband get me gifts? Like bday presents...?

He remembers my bdays but a nice pat on the back is all I get. I always make his day super special w/ gifts and romance but no matter how many hints I send him (love flowers, romantic dinner, not expensive stuff) he believes that gifts are a waste of money. He says his money is my money and just go buy something if I wanted .. but that is not what I want. I wish my husband would give me a surprise "anything" just once a year. Forget Christmas, Valentines, he just believes in NO celebration. (I am so complete opposite). It is so unromantic, so frustrating in those special days.

How do I make my husband get me gifts? Like bday presents...?
You can't really make him buy you gifts, instead, you have to talk to him and let him know that every now and then, you would enjoy the element of surprise in your relationship. If he thinks it's a waste of money, there are other ways to surprise you. My husband and I do believe that Valentine's day, etc are all wasteful holidays that stores promote in order to make more money. If he wants it to be meaningful, he can do something as simple as cooking a nice meal for you or cleaning up the house. When I come home from work and I see that my fiance has gone through great lengths and effort to cook me supper, it makes my day.

If he still doesn't clue in, you really have to spell it out for him. Men don't get it, they are clueless when it comes to these things.
Reply:give and you should receive
Reply:I guilted mine into straightening up his act... I spent sooo many years without ever getting anything recognized...so one year, I think it was Mothers Day and it came and again it was nothing to him...I mean, I'd only given him 4 kids no big deal right? So, my oldest had made soemthing at school for me and when I opened it, it reminded me how unappreciated I was by my hub and I spent the whole day crying over it....everytime he asked what was wrong I told him over and over that i was obviously wasting my time as I was totally unappreciated..and unloved. Whe3n he argued he did love me, I kept telling him ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS BUDDY! Then I turned and made his Fathers Day awesome.....and then my kids on Fathers Day said to him..How come you don't do this for Mommy on Mothers Day? I think thats what finally got him..... Now I get gifts for everything..
Reply:It's one thing to be "unromantic" - but he sounds completely and utterly selfish to boot. Marriage isn't all about how *you* feel, it's a lot about how your partner feels. I don't know how to "make" him do something he sees no value in doing - and I'm not talking about the "gifts" per say, but about making his partener happy. I suppose, one practical solution would be to do something special on these days *together* - like, plan a small get-away together, go to a nice dinner together, buy something that both of you have been wanting to buy, together. I'm afraid, tho, that he will never get it, you'll always have to be the insigator.

Then again, if this is his only fault, you're not doing so bad!
Reply:You cannot make him do anything. You should have recognized this about him when you were dating. Accept him for who is is. Pray that he will become more considerate to your needs. and take the money he offered and treat yourself to a relaxing day at the spa. or whatever is comfortable for you.
Reply:Mr. Chivalry says, "If a man can't do the same for you, then he doesn't deserve it. Wait, I shouldn't say that. I'd say, slow down on getting him so much, but continue to be the bigger person. Ultimately he SHOULD see how special he is to you, and if he can't or doesn't, then use the money you spend on him, to treat yourself. He'll realize what he's missing."
Reply:http://www.LadderGolfGame.com
Reply:Just go buy what you want and give him the receipt if you have separate bank account. If you share accounts then that's easier just buy what you want and tell him thanks. You don't need to make a big deal out of it. Plus you know most men suck at picking good gift. I have to bring a catalog home and make the pages or print off items I would like and leave them on his desk. But still I get either the wrong color or the wrong size. So I just do it my self and give him the receipt for reimbursement.
Reply:Stop buying him gifts. That should send him the message. You can't make him buy gifts for you. What would be the fun in getting something you had to force him to buy?
Reply:Stop!!! Don't get him anything, and stop celebrating his days!!!

I bet he will miss it.

Taking care of cut flowers, please help me!?

My boyfriend gifted me with beautiful sunflowers, and I want to keep them beautiful and alive for as long as possible!

I change the vase water every 3 days and add a little sugar.

what else can i do to keep them alive and healthy?

also, one sunflower's petals have begun to shrivel up. i figure its from an air bubble or something, so i recut the stem under water; what else should i do for this one? if i remove the shriveled leaves will any grow back?

please help!

Taking care of cut flowers, please help me!?
Crush an aspirin in the water

or

put some sugar in the water that works for live Christmas trees

spray water on them along with watering them
Reply:It won't grow back. Trim the stems under warm water every two days, at a 45% aangle. Use warm water every time. Fill the vase with warm water, put a tiny pinch of plant food ,1/2 of an aspirin , or a little bit of 7-up soda in the water. But don't use all of those, just one. Also, put one little eye drop of bleach in the water. That keeps algae from forming in the vase, which in turn seals the ends of the stems and prevents them from getting water. ( that is that slimy stuff) And don't worry, they won't last forever. The longest I have keep any flowers in a vase was 2 weeks. That was doing what I said. Byee
Reply:re cut the bottom of the stems a little bit,Use a knife not scissors, and cut at an angle, turn on the COLD water and give them a little shower everyday, as well as replace the vase water everyday, this will perk them up and they will last for quite a long time.... no the leaves will not grow back
Reply:I one got a few roses from my boyfriend and i ended up growing a rose bush from them it was wild.....i always add aspirne to the water...sometimes a penny....trim the stems a little bit every other day
Reply:well i think you need to put them in soil or water depending on the plant but try putin them in soil and water it every day and they should be fine!
Reply:Sounds like you are doing everything right. The flowers will only last so long once cut. Leaves will not grow back. If they stay looking nice for a week, that is great. You never know how long before you got them they were cut.
