What can I have delivered to a hospital that isn't food, wine or flowers?!?

My grandfather is in a hospital that doesn't allow flowers, and he is too sick for food/drink gifts.

He lives in another country so I'd like to arrange something to be delivered since I can't visit in person, but I can't think of anything. I would send a car but it would take too long in the mail.

What can I have delivered to a hospital that isn't food, wine or flowers?!?
A Barber Shop Quartet to sing him a nice rousing song.
Reply:Is he expected to come out again? It's a delicate matter.
Reply:a beautiful card? a picture of you? a stuffed animal?
Reply:Send him books
Reply:Balloons or you could call a flower shop and explain to them what is going on and they will le tyou know what they have.

Sorry about your grandpa.
Reply:How about a good book to while away the boredom for him.Hope he gets well soon.
Reply:Forget about sending anything, give him a call.
Reply:The best thing you could do would be to write him a brilliant letter, he will read it over and over and treasure it and your love. Material things and his comfort are being dealt with, but your letter will lift his spirits - or could you phone him as well. You sound so caring which makes a change and he is lucky too.
Reply:Card and photoframe with a personal note. But visiting him yourself would mean more to him.
Reply:I think if your Granddad is unwell send a card (with meaning) and write a letter/note to him. It will be better than any gift because he will know you care all those miles away.
Reply:A Teddy Gram (Custom Teddy Bear delivery) or a Singing Telegram Delivery , that might cheer him up and give him a good laugh!
Reply:magazines/books

toiletries (Wet Wipes, shower gel, talc, etc)

CDs

pyjamas

photographs of family
Reply:Use a priority mail service for the card, such as AirSure - takes about 3 days from the UK to most destinations.
Reply:balloons, personalised teddy, photo album, make something for him like a painting or something and sed via a specialist courier company so it wont take long to get there

you could make a tape of his favourite music
Reply:A Vermont Teddy Bear. And I believe you can customize one, too! They are top quality teddy bears and sometimes come with other little gifts. Check out the internet as I'm sure they have a website, just type vermont teddy bear in the search engine. This way he'll have something special to look at that reminds him of you, and depends on how sick he is he can even cuddle with it! :)
Reply:I'm sure you could find a specialty store that could deliver a gift basket of nice items...maybe a book or some magazines (if he can't read for himself, some hospitals have people who volunteer to read to patients), some unscented lotion for his hands or face (hospital air can be drying to the skin). A personalized letter is nice, and some basic necessities, like toothbrush, shampoo, and the like are good because the kinds they have in hospitals are not usually really what most people would pick for themselves. If he likes music, and is able to work with current technologies (or if someone is there who can help him), a personal music player or mp3 player loaded with his type of music would be good, with headphones so he can listen without disturbing other patients.

It's nice that you're thinking of him...the best gift is to let him know that you care!
Reply:Sorry your grandfather is ill Princess.

Could you try to speak to him. You could call the hospital and tell them you live far away and they might be able to arrange for you to have a few words, to let him know you love him and are thinking of him.

God bless both of you xx.
Reply:Pictures of you %26amp; your family and lots %26amp; lots of cards. Send a parcel [shoebox] and put things like his favourite book, favourite smell and get each and every member of your family to write a note to him to tell him they hope he gets better soon. Let him know that all of you are safe but that you hope he gets better soon.

Put lots of rose petals in there, and simple things such as handkerchiefs and photos - less is more.

I hope this helps you. x

x New York City babe xx
Reply:Nah it won't take long, just send the car.
Reply:What kind of hospital can you deliver wine to ? If i get ill i'm going there!
Reply:How about a portable tape recorder - with a tape with a personal message from you and some of his favourite bits of music recorded on to it.
Reply:clothes, (nice ones!)

things he might like, ie, gifts...

electronic gadgets.....

reading material..

toiletries... anything nice/useful for when you are spending time in hospital.

Climbing Shoes

Have you any fun recipes for gifts of food from the Orient or India, for Christmas ~ like candied kumquats?

Something you think exotic and fun?

No problem obtaining ingredients.

If you know what the local gift

fresh leaves and flowers or the like ~ please include those instructions?

Bless you!

Have you any fun recipes for gifts of food from the Orient or India, for Christmas ~ like candied kumquats?
ooh, anything curried, definately must try the nut cakes, also lotus seed paste, red bean paste, century eggs, lotus flower, lotus root, frozen durian, salted duck eggs, maybe some mooncake although mooncake is usually eaten during the moon festival, hawfruit candies, almond roca, ginseng, bubble tea, lychees, longans, dragonfruits, jasmine tea or other tea mixes, spices especially curry and saffron and other things symbolic of both these places, preserved fruits and vegetables, honey, pomegranate things, oh oh! jujubes (red dates) and other dates! yum!, drinks, wines
Reply:Here are a couple of links for a few very delicious Iranian cookie recipes. Wrap with sheer white cloth drawn up around a little plate of cookies and tie with a silver ribbon so that the cloth fans up several inches above the ribbon. It's very pretty.

What types of flowers to send to a Chinese funeral?

My friend's father passed away recently and I want to get her family some condolence flowers. They are Chinese and quite auspicious. What type of flowers should I send? Is there another type of gift that would be more appropriate? Are certain colors of flowers inappropriate?

What types of flowers to send to a Chinese funeral?
hope this helps

Any color will do, except red. Black or dark color is more common than white. White is usually for the family only.

You can buy them some flowers, especially chrysanthnum, or other kind of flowers of yellow or white color, pink may do too, but never be red.

In some Chinese societies you're expected to give some donation (called "Bai jin", the number must be odd, never 100, make it 101, as it means that when you die, die yourself only, never die together, just avoid any even number.)
Reply:Not really sure, but chrysanthemums are usually an arrangement sent for this purpose.
Reply:White or yellow chrysanthemum. No red colours.
Reply:White flowers will do. White is the symbol of death in Buddhist culture.

What is a nice hostess gift for my daughter to give her boyfriend's mother (or parents)?

My college age daughter's boyfriend and his parents have begun to regularly invite her for weekends at their home. She likes to take a small hostess gift and has given flowers and homemade cookies, which were well received. She can't take wine, as she is under age and could get in trouble with the law if she were stopped with alcohol in the car. She is on a limited budget. Please help with suggestions, as these people are very special to her!

What is a nice hostess gift for my daughter to give her boyfriend's mother (or parents)?
Chocolates, candles, soap, towels, cakes, pies, coffee-table books, fruits, candies, small potted plants, jams......
Reply:homemade things are always nice and truly show that you care.

Cookies or other baked goods are a great idea. Another idea is take a jar and layer the dry ingredients for cookies in it and include a recipe card with it.

When it gets cold out you can do the same thing with hot chocolate in a mug

Maybe a couple candles?

I think anything homemade is great! That is so nice of your daughter to take some hostess gifts!
Reply:Can she cook? Tell her to take an entree for dinner. Maybe some flavored coffee, like hazelnut or french vanilla. A nice picture, in a nice picture frame of her and boyfriend. Maybe a good movie on DVD. She's a very lucky young lady. A lot of parents don't like their children's choices in mates.
Reply:Fruit, canned fruits/jellies from fruit stands, candles, cakes, tell her to pay attention to things they like...you can usually see around the home. Flea Markets are great spots to find the unique and even cheap!
Reply:Art pictures are actually great gifts for any occasion. You could check out the website www.photoartomation.com.They have plenty ideas for any occasion.
Reply:Just keep with the cookies and baked goods. Something made herself is more special than a purchased gift. A nice thank you note at the end of the visit is good too.
Reply:A gift certificate to a spa would be greatly appreciated.
Reply:maybe some spiced cider aka non alcoholic champagne

I want to send my gf flowers. The problem is, she is in Korea. Anyone know how I get flowers over there?

I would like to send my girlfriend flowers or a nice gift but I'm on a budget as well. Anyone have ideas?

FTD delivers world wide. (no, I can't remember what that stands for) Just go to the website, and tell them where you want them sent.

The only thing you need is a credit card.
Reply:Yes,

I know exactly what you could do.

There are green houses and flower places every where all you would need to do is send some money over to the nearest store they have and tell them to deliver some. and they will reach the nearst one in korea that could deliver then to her. and if you would like to buy her a gift.. buy her a gift then send it to her in the mail. If that doesn't work then just get her a card an send.
Reply:look up and call a flower shop there and have them send her flowers with a sweet luv note on it
Reply:get someone over there to get the flowers for you. pay them somehow and let them get the flowers to her.
Reply:will 1-800-flowers do it?
Reply:http://www.leeflower.com/flowershop.htm
Reply:Best way would be to find an international flower deliverer on the web.

What would you rather receive as a gift for a special occasion, flowers or a plant?

flowers are so nice, but they die, and you throw them away.

plants are cool, because you keep them and keep getting reminded of the reason why you got it. so....id have to go with a plant. but not just any ole plant, make it a nice one!

What would you rather receive as a gift for a special occasion, flowers or a plant?
I like plants as gifts, but if it's a formal occasion potted plants are out of the question, better get the floral arrangement for graduations and such.

But if your giving the gift at home or somewhere when no one really knows your giving or cares then plants are the way to go. I give hanging plants to all the special mothers in my family for Mother's Day. They love them and I love seeing them on their porches later in summer when they are huge and blooming.

....I prefer plants, firstly, because they don't smell like a funeral parlor. Secondly, because they can last a lifetime. Flowers wither within 2 or 3 days, bummer for all the cash ya just flushed.
Reply:a plant, then I can be reminded of my special occasion each time I see the plant. Flowers die after a week or two.
Reply:Flowers, but only SILK! I have 30 cats, so I can't have a plant, however, if it was a SILK plant, I'd love it cause silk plants look so real but are too expensive!
Reply:Flowers! I have too many plants already.
Reply:These are both pretty boring. If that's it .. I'll take the plant. I'd rather get a Swiss Army Knife or Multi-tool, a nice fountain pen, a couple of passes to the movies or gift certificate to Barnes and Noble.
Reply:depends on what would be sent and for what occasion. being a florist i would rather recieve a gift basket.
Reply:a plant ...flowers die in few hours ..plant has longer life *-*
