What gift has meant alot to you that were given by a romantic interest? Why was the gift meaningful?
I'm trying to think about a gift for valentines day for a very close friend. I don't want a humdrum gift like flowers or chocolates nor do I want to get something trashy. Ideas anyone?
What gift has meant alot to you that were given by a romantic interest? Why was the gift meaningful?
(-: Sometimes humdrum makes a lot of sense. My favorite gift from my husband is potted mini-roses. They last a long time, and I love flowers. And every time he surprises me with one, I flash back on the other mini-roses he's given me over the years. It packs quite a punch by now!
It really depends on the tastes of your friend. Does she like Valentine badges? Does she like chocolate? Does she like books? Choose something that will make her happy, and plan to make a tradition out of it. In the long run, that will have tremendous meaning.
Reply:My husband bought me a new outfit, than we went and walked around the botanical gardens, and than we went to a nice restaurant for dinner, it was one of the best days I ever had.
How about a tea set, or some nice candles w/ holders, or an oil diffuser? A gift certificate for a manicure, a book you know she's been wanting, or a framed photo of the two of you together.
Whatever you get her, it's always a good idea to include a card that tells her why she's meaningful to you, she'll cherish that card.
Reply:one guy gave my a necklace.(it wasn't a big fancy exspensive one) but it meant alot to me and i love to wear it it is just a little one that he got at a science museum but it mean't alot to me anyways and i loved it
Hope I Helped:)
Reply:My boyfriend got me a beautiful photo album. He had it engraved with our names and a heart. It was meaningful because he lives eight hours away from me, and I had told him that I wanted to make a scrapbook of the times we've had together.

Reply:Mine was this nice portrait of myself on my 18th birthday – done by professional artists from http://www.paintyourlife.com on my girlfriend’s instructions. She secretly sent the photo to them and the finished product came directly to me by post – of course with a personalized message in there from her. I just love it! You.
I have since discovered that the same company also has a studio for oil paintings reproductions. So, if you are looking for an affordable gift urgently, you can take a look at their 'stock on sale' by visiting http://www.oil-paintings-reproductions.c...
Reply:My fiance made me my own chocolate caramels last year with sea salt on top. They were yummy. He also created a dessert he thought I would like based on things he knows that I like. Although the dessert was just okay, the thought was amazing. He is a very thoughtful man.
Edit: And personally, the gifts I have always found most thoughtful are the ones where the person thinks about me as a person and what I like. So, I would say, think about her interests, who she is, and then that will inform your gift.
Reply:I like to read and I appreciate art and an old love once gave me a first edition book illustrated by Salvador Dali that he found in a used book store. Also, he made me a flower press (because I had admired one I saw in a store). He made it from wood that screws together and he had varnished the wood and painted a rose on top and put in layers of foam core and tissue to press flowers. It was really thoughtful because he took the time to make it and because he noticed what I liked.
Reply:O - artwork gift!! I am tremendously amazed by photoartomation work! (http://www.photoartomation.com). Their professional and creative artists convert ordinary photo into art and print them on canvas. Sent them a favorite picture of your friend and they will turn it to the beautiful peace of art. I'm sure your friend would love it very much.
Reply:Think about her or his talents and interests and try to buy somethng taht would be of use for that hobby. like if they like painting give her some expensive paints, or something also if the person is a close friend a nice scrap book will probably touch them. put pics and momentos from your friendship in the book and give it to them. they will laugh at the memories, and be so happy.
Reply:The best gift I have ever recieved was a trip to the snow. I was always saying how I had never seen snow ( lived in the tropics my whole life) and how I wished I could see it. Well my boyfriend suprised me on my birthday with plane tickets for a weekend away at the snow. We had the most amazing time. I will never forget the excitement I felt seeing the snow for the first time. It was the most thoughtfull gift I had ever recieved and I will never forget it. He took the time to find me a gift that was perfect and unexpected and the most memorable present of my whole life.
I guess that is one of the reasons I am marrying the guy. Nobody has ever done anything so wonderful for me before.

Has anyone ever sold products for SMC?
Im planning on opening my own Flower/gift shop called Choose Your Blooms. I am looking for a company to buy figuerenes and other gift products. Is SMC the only company? Are they a good company to work with?
Has anyone ever sold products for SMC?
No, but i have heard people say that they have tried it and they throw loops at you when you ask why this is what was advertised, also for all the items that you have ordered that people didnt buy you have to pay for them at SMC price not your discount price also if they are not sold with in a certain time frame, , they wont tell you that, and so many people are doing selling your items the chances are not high,
but if you are successful at it, then youll be doing good
a buddy of mine didit and he sold lots of things but he said after it was all said and done his income was less than his outgo,
just information from friends who have tried it

What gifts do women buy for guys?
Valentines day is coming up and a lot of guys always buy women flowers or chocolates, what are the stereotypical gifts that a woman would buy for a guy?
What gifts do women buy for guys?
A stereotypical gift I guess is buying silk boxer shorts or buying lingerie for myself and surprising him. But I hate cheesy gifts like that.
For past Valentine's days I've made extra special home cooked meals with dessert. I usually don't buy him a gift other than that, and he's never given me a gift for Valentine's day, either.
Edit@Johno: I love robots and remote control things!! I want a mini remote control helicopter. http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/rc/934... My husband already has a full-sized remote helicopter, but it requires too much space. Maybe I'll get him a mini one and then I can play with it, too. Sorry you got dumped, but at least it saved you from the trouble of having to do it yourself (if you know what I mean). Hehehe.
Reply:Have they been giving gifts for so long that there are stereotypical gifts for guys?
I don't think women know what to get.
A good bottle of wine and a picnic lunch?
Red silk boxers?
A gift certificate for a massage?
A favorite CD?
A pair of tickets to something - sports or theater?
Hell, I don't know.
C. :)
Reply:I don't know about sterotypical gifts, but I just get jewellery, dvd's , video games etc that my husband likes and some sexy underwear for him!
Reply:Cologne
Reply:I'm buying my boyfriend Larry some Three Stooges lounge pants. He collects Three Stooges memorabilia.
Shhh!!!!
Reply:Books. Always books. Which I prefer.
A book that reflects your interests is a way of saying, "Not only do I put up with it when you drone on and on about boring things, I actually paid enough attention to choose a book you'd like."
To me, that's love.
Reply:I buy chocolates for my guy, he loves them. I had one partner who felt bad that he had never gotten flowers, so I got him flowers all the time, he loved it. I've bought music, a book, outdoor gear, whatever I knew they really wanted but hadn't gotten for themself. I hate clothes and appliances as gifts, so I never have given those.
Reply:I've gotten my husband flowers as well, but it depends on your budget and your guy's interests. I've done "coupons," these can be customized for the two of you, for lovin' redeemable any time, or gift certificates for something cool, like an activity (i.e. I once got my hubby a gc for sky diving in San Fran). Depending on your location, you could do ballroom dancing lessons, a massage, etc. www.etsy.com has some awesome and very unique, handmade gifts, and as for the activity gift certificates, check out this website: www.xperiencedays.com
Enjoy!
Reply:Sweaters, CD's, underwear (xD), watches, a video game? I suggest a sweater, however.
Reply:The first valentine's day I spent with my hubby while we were dating I took him to a monster truck rally! I had a ball! We have been together for 10 years and each year I have given him gifts I know he will like. One year it was basketball tickets, another year it was a CD burner ( he is really into computers). I think the best gift I ever gave him though was telling him I was pregnant with our second son over dinner. :) He says that is his favorite!
Reply:I tend to try to get my husband something fun - something that is both fun and practical, or something that will excite the child in him...
I have to admit I've gotten him a lot of stuff from ThinkGeek.com
( http://www.thinkgeek.com/index.shtml )
I also get gifts for my guy friends here - and so far they've all been a big hit!
They have marshmallow shooters and blasters, awesome laser tag, tons of R/C products including Sumo Wrestlers and Jousting Knights, yes I got my hubby a lightsaber, and he has a titanium spork! They also have multi-tools, USB items, watches, and other more practical items.
I am so sorry you were dumped after giving your gf a robot! What a fun and original gift. Maybe you should have put a rose in its hand... but still - lol.
I'm not sure what I'm going to get my husband for Valentine's Day yet. I'll probably go take a look at ThinkGeek again - they always have new stuff. They have a pretty big caffeine section and I think I might get something there.
I guess the trick with Valentine's Day is guessing what your significant other would like - based on how well you know them. I think the more you know someone, the more free you are to venture away from stereotypical gifts like flowers and chocolates and start purchasing other things that they would like.
Reply:Dildoes and strap-ons to use on him. ;-)
Haha! I keed.
I haven't celebrated Valentine's day for about 9 years now.
At first, my ex thought this was strange, as he had been used to the ritualistic gift buying for his exes, but later realised that I prefer to celebrate love in "our own ways" during the rest of the year than on a holiday for a saint, when I'm not even religious, hehe. I don't celebrate holidays, but with a few exceptions.
When I would buy or make him gifts, they always revolved around his interests and the things I knew he enjoyed most, and I liked to surprise, not the routine gift giving, just not my cup of tea, I have nothing against anyone who does it though.
Do the same with anyone else I have or will gift something, always considering their interests.
Reply:I think stereotypical would be a cooked meal, right? I usually buy my SO media things for special occasions- he loves TV show DVD box sets. If I don't make something special for dinner, then I take him out to dinner at a place he likes.
Reply:if you're in a relationship, they dress up
Reply:The last gift I bought for a guy was socks. He asked for them, so don't laugh. I also burned a CD for a guy that had the soundtrack to our favourite musical on it. I figure burned CDs will be very popular choices.

What is a unique gift besides flowers, candy etc. I want to do something extra special with out going overboar
Art pictures are actually great gifts for every occasion. I would highly recommend you to visit http://www.photoartomation.com. Their professional and creative artists convert ordinary photos into beautiful piece of art. They are also have affordable prices, and you can instruct them to send the artwork directly to the person you want! It's a great site to create a really personalized photoart gift for someone special in your life!

I tried to find a special wedding gift for my sister.
A friend of mine recommended http://www.photoartomation.com... I sent them a photo. They made several preview samples for me. I've chosen one of them and ordered a canvas stretched print. That was awesome! My sis was very, very pleased. Report It

Reply:A cute bracelet is always in good taste. Not too "overboard" like a ring, not too expensive, and yet very nice and tasteful, and something she can wear each day to remember you
Reply:Pictures, personalized key chain, or coffee cup.
Reply:If it's for a girlfriend, a cute thing to do is get a teddy bear, size doesn't matter too much, and have it holding something, like a card or flowers. It's not too overboard and it's still a little different. Or if it's a more serious relationship, you can buy a necklace and put it on the bear, see how long it takes her to notice it.
It sounds like you're talking about gifts for a significant other, but I could be wrong, could you specify?
Reply:Funny you said besides "flowers and candy", check out http://www.frameagram.com they claim to have an alternative to flowers and candy. Basically, it is a personalized photo frame you design yourself online to be given as a gift. Very unique, I am getting one for my mother this Mother's day. Good luck.
Reply:Who is the gift for? That makes a big difference
Reply:Really depends on who you are shopping for, sounds like maybe a gift for someone that has invited you over and the most inexpensive yet tasty treat would be a nice bottle of wine, price can easily be under $ 10. Hope this helps and enjoy your Easter.

What are the best flowers to send a gay couple? What wine would you choose for a gift?
What are the best flowers or wine would you choose for a hetro couple? I'm quite sure taste in flowers or wine is in no way determined by sexual orentation.

Ladies, do you like to receive Flowers as a gift?
i like to give flowers, but im curious if you really like it?
Ladies, do you like to receive Flowers as a gift?
I melt if my bf gives me flowers! Its so nice and classicly romantic, my heart just stops.
Reply:Yes of course! It is really sweet and thoughtful.
Reply:Not as a gift for a special day...but as a "thinking of you" type of thing.
Reply:mos def
Reply:I am a coin flip on this one.
Of coarse I love to receive flowers, but in private.
I get embarrassed when I get it at work/school/public.
I don't like the production, but I like it as an intimate surprise between me and my partner.
Reply:YES i love flowers. ANY kind of flowers...they dont have to be roses or anything expensive like that...i mean it could be those yellow weeds you find on grass....its the thought that counts and i just think flowers are so lovely!
Reply:Love flowers!! They're so beautiful!
Reply:well u hav to know the right kind of flowers but my dad always says flowers say im sorry chocolate means i luv you!
Reply:I personally love flowers. And consider men who hand them out to be very romantic! However, my suggestion is to save formal bouquets for special occasions. Sunflowers, daffodils, tulips, alstroemerias are all lovely but not too stuffy. (and avoid bouquets with dyed carnations and colorfols plastic wrapping ... much better to deliver a few loose flowers ... in my opinion!)
Reply:sometimes depending on what kind of flowers and what u are expecting to recieve in return i mean if it is an honest and genuine gesture i mean my fiance picked me wild flowers when we first met and he did it to be sweet and that was my biggest fantasy and he fullfilled it then i love it but when a guy goes out and blows money on flowers for me that are just going to die anyway then i find it pointless.
Reply:yeah i do.. i think it's really sweet
Reply:yep, flowers are good. basically any gift is good- its the thought that counts!
Reply:well..its sweet..but it doesn't last long. and now i'm not partial to flowers. a bit on the cheesy side.
but i'm kind of a picky person and don't like getting gifts in general. i know i'm difficult and won't like it..and hate having to lie to ppl about liking the gift.
its best to stick to things that are more personal or simple like a mix tape.

Reply:I love getting flowers! Most girls love getting roses but some girls are more of a bright colored out of the ordinary person. I think girls like it. I know I do. But the best way to find out is to ask someone close to the person your getting them for.
Reply:I agree with Jan. Flowers die.
Plus, I rather have something useful.
Reply:always.....you can never go wrong with a fist full of weeds
Reply:No, they die, would rather have a small gift it last forever.
Reply:Nope I dont -- its cheesy and unimaginative, be creative....... (I like shiny things)
Reply:yeah i do. i think it's sweet when a guy gives flowers.
Reply:I do! Note - most women I know prefer to receive them at work (provided they somewhere to display them). Nothing is better than having all your female co-workers ooo and ahhh over them and tell you how great your man is. If you do send them to her work, send them on a Monday. It's a real bummer to get them on Friday and either have to lug them home or come in the following Monday to dead flowers.
Reply:Yes! Flowers are wonderful!
Reply:its ok but its nice to be taken somewhere instead or something more special at times. this article will give you some idea about buying something for that special someone
Reply:Yes, I love it when it comes by surprise.
Reply:yes we do its a sweet gesture as long as its the right kind of flowers of course!
Reply:I think it's sweet
Reply:yes I do I think it is one of the sweest things a guy can do for a girl on her b-day or for a gifl it tell her that you love her and she will love the flowers.
